       THE MISS WORLD PAGEANT:

The Miss World pageant is an international beauty pageant founded in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in
1951.  Presently, Eric Morley’s wife Julia Morley, co-chairs the pageant.

Miss World is the most widely attempted and broadcasted international beauty pageant, with over a hundred
delegates competing every year.  The finals of the Miss World pageant is the world’s largest live annual
television event with global viewers topping two billion in more than 200 countries.

The winner spends a year traveling to represent the Miss World Organization and its various causes.  
Traditionally, Miss World lives in London during her reign.  The current Miss World is Tatana Kucharova of the
Czech Republic.

At the Miss World Pageant, delegates also have the opportunity to compete for the title of “Continental
Queen”.  A queen is selected for each continent in the world namely: Americas, Africa, Asia, Caribbean,
Northern Europe and Southern Europe (Belize falls under the Americas).  The delegate selected as
queen of her continent also has the opportunity to become the next Miss World.

As part of its marketing strategy, Miss World came up with a "You Decide" television special where the
delegates are featured behind the scenes and on the beach, allowing viewers to either phone in or vote online
for their favorites.

The Miss World Organization owns and manages the annual Miss World Finals, a competition that has grown
into one of the World’s biggest and most loved events. Since its launch in 1951, the Miss World Organization
has raised millions of dollars for children’s charities.  Miss World is franchised in more than 140 countries,
including Belize, and commands the world’s largest annual live TV audience.

Since 2003 Miss World pageant also features Fast Track events during the preliminary round. The winners of
Fast Track events are automatically qualified to enter the final round. Fast Track events for this year’s
competition are:

Pageants Belize is please to say that our Miss Belize World Felicita Arzu will be competing in all five categories.
She will also be performing a  tradtitional Garifuna dance in her cultural costure to the beat of Belize's very own
Andy Palacio off his WORLD MUSIC CD called "WATINA"
