Felicita grew up in a family of six: her mom, dad, two elder sisters, one brother who is the eldest and herself; they are all Garinagu. Her family is very closely knit. They look out for each other; and after God, her family is first. In spite of the hardships and challenges in life, her parents raised their children by the principle that the family is the cornerstone of society and that parents harbor the highest aspirations for their children. Felicita attended Orange Walk Technical High School. She later furthered her studies at Muffles Junior College, where two years later, she graduated with an Associates Degree in General Studies. Longing to pursue her degree in education, Felicita attended the University of Belize and three years later, graduated on the Dean’s Honor list with a Bachelor’s Degree in English Education. As a determined promoter of education, Felicita has the goal of entering the educational system because she believes that the role of an educator is imperative in any society. She was greatly inspired by her mother and two sisters who have been committed and dedicated educators. She intends to pursue a masters and doctoral degree in education, and hopes to become one of the policy making individuals at the forefront of the educational system. In addition, she aspires to develop a non- profitable foundation which caters for youths who weren’t fortunate to attend an educational institution. This foundation will focus on educating and motivating the younger generation, providing scholarships, and teaching them that they can make a difference in the development of their country. Apart from her interest in education, Leesha, as she is affectionately called, is fascinated with pageantry and was crowned Miss Orange Walk 2004-2005. She also has a passion for singing and was crowned Love FM's Countrywide Karaoke Champion in 2004, and Fiesta FM’s Karaoke Champion that same year. Her ambition and perseverance enabled her to capture the title of Miss Belize World 2006-2007. Felicita will represent Belize in the upcoming Miss World beauty pageant, which will be held in Sanya, China from November 2nd to December 1st later this year. Her hobbies and leisure interests are: singing, modeling, reading, traveling, acting, and listening to a wide range of musical genres. Her favorite motto is: “Everything happens for a reason, nothing happens by chance.” |
