PRESS RELEASE_ NEW MISS BELIZE                 Sunday July 27th. 2008

NEW MISS WORLD DATE AND LOCATION OF FINALS UPDATED MON AUG 18TH.

Miss Belize 2008 Pageants was Saturday, July 26th on the premises of Pageants Belize
Official Headquarters.
The winner and New Miss Belize is 21 Year old neurosurgeon student of St Johns University
in New York., Miss Chinapen of Belize City. Miss Chinapen will get to represent Belize at
the upcoming Miss World Pageant in a new location to be announced. She is scheduled to
leave Belize on October 30 to begin one month of competition for the Miss World Finals on
November 29th.

Key changes to this years pageant and format included a great emphasis on a delegates
Bio and what she has done community wise and with her life before she became Miss
Belize. The Miss World Pageant is about “Beauty with a Purpose” a phrase coined by the
Executive Chairman of the Miss World Pageant Mrs. Julia Morley.
During the personality interview delegates were photographed and videotaped throughout
the entire interview up close and personal to demonstrate handling their interview under
pressure of the constant click of the cameras

The delegates competed in Introduction, Personality interview with the judges, two High
Fashion swimsuit competitions, evening gown and final question in which all received the
same final question but no other delegate was able to hear what that final question but the
one being asked. The accounting firm of Castillo Sanchez & Burrell, formerly Deloitte &
Touché were the official Tabulators

The Judges for the night were
1.        Becky Bernard _ Miss Belize 2002_2003
2.        Jacob Samson, Personal trainer to several High School and Queen of the Bay
delegates and Mr. SJC 2007
3.        Lennox Young, better known as DJ Tambran, is a prominent business man of
Belize City.
4.        Leroy Green, Program Coordinator for Expected arts in the Ministry of Education
and a veteran Pageant Missosologist, Personal Trainer of Pageant and the arts and
currently in the Ministry of Education.
5.        Marleni Cuellar_ Channel 5 TV lead evening News Anchor

11 delegates were accepted to this years pageant but only the top 5 finalist got to battle it
out in the end. here are the results below:
1ST. Runner-up was 21 years old Keisha Daniels a returning delegate of the 2007 Miss
Belize pageant from Dangriga. Keisha won the right to represent Belize in two international
Pageants in 2009, Miss Caribbean World and Miss Carival Beauty Pageants both in the
Island of St Vincent & the Grenadines

2ND Runner-up was 24 years old Jeanna Casey of Camolote in the Cayo District and
Ms. Casey will represent Belize at Miss Culturama Pageant in Nevis in 2009.

3RD Runner-up was Keria Nunez, also of Dangriga and Keria will represent Belize in the
Miss PJD2 Caribbean Beauty Pageant in St. Maarten in 2009

4TH Runner-up was Tanisha Ramsey of Belmopan and she will also get to represent
Belize in the Island of St Maarten in 2009.

A reception was held at the SMOKY MERMAID restaurant for the new queen and her court.

Special thanks to MADISCO for the beautiful tropical flowers for the winners bouquets, to
MAYA ISLAND AIR for bringing in our two delegates in from Dangriga and to all the
volunteers, the Bernard family, to the staff of Smoky Mermaid, Restaurant , Ms Angela
Gegg, the photographers.and judges who took their job very serious. Thanks also to the
queens who took part in the coronation , Ms Jennine Thompson, Ms Jessie Medina and to
family and friend of the delegates, Pageants Belize committee, guests of those invited.
