Belize Citizenship

CITIZENSHIP: Citizenship is based upon the Belize Nationality Act, Chapter
127A of the Laws of Belize, R.E. 1980-1990. The following persons were granted
citizenship at the date of independence (September 21, 1981):
BY BIRTH: Birth within the territory of Belize, on or after September 21, 1981, regardless
of the nationality of the parents. The exception is a child born to certain diplomatic
personnel.
BY DESCENT: Child born abroad, on or after September 21, 1981, at least one of whose
parents is a citizen of Belize.
MARRIAGE: Foreign national, who marries a citizen of Belize, is eligible to register for
citizenship. ( This one does not apply. You must be single to apply to become Miss Belize)
BY NATURALIZATION: Belizean citizenship may be acquired upon fulfillment of the
following conditions: Person has resided in the country for at least five years and has
renounced previous citizenship. Person applies for economic citizenship by registration.
DUAL CITIZENSHIP: RECOGNIZED. Exceptions: Dual citizenship is prohibited for:
Belizean citizen by descent who has renounced such citizenship. However, such person
may apply to resume Belizean citizenship but must renounce citizenship of any other
country and demonstrate intent to continue to be an ordinarily resident in Belize.
Belizean citizen, either by descent or registration, who has pledged allegiance to, or is a
citizen of, a country which does not recognize the independence, sovereignty, or territorial
integrity of Belize
APPLICANTS BASIC CRITERIA / RULES /TERMS/CONDITIONS
1) Must be a Belizean by any of the above means except by marriage highlighted above
in WHITE text. For more information please email us at delegates@pageantsbelize.com
2). Be at least 17 years of age by the date of the Miss Belize Pageant finals but not older
than 24 by August 1 2009. Please check the rules of your High School an or request our
assistance if a letter is needed.
4) Be of good moral conduct
5) Single mean single and that includes not living as a common law wife.
6) Be willing to represent Belize at home and abroad
7) be prepared to sign a contract as a delegate and also as a winner if applicable.and
must know that when in doubt about anything, to refer to your contract.
8) must be at least 5ft 4 inches tall without heels
9) must be prepared to use two piece swim suit if applicable for the year of the contest
10) must be willing to follow rules and guidelines including those of our chaperons
11) Tattoos not allowed.
12) Must be female by birth.
13) Must be truthful on your application form
14) Belizeans on F1 visas are entitled to participate in Miss Belize, providing all other
guideline and requirements are met.
15) Belizeans living abroad who would like to participate in Miss Belize, that are not on F1
visa, please write us at info@pageantsbelize to see if you qualify.
16). Shall either have been born in Belize, be the child of a Belizean parent, or is a
naturalized citizen of Belize.
17) Must be able to travel outside the country of Belize without restrictions from any US or
any other immigration regulatory agency.
18) Must not have given birth, and is not pregnant
19) Must not be married, or had a marriage annulled.
20) Of high moral standing and good member of the community.
